August 2017

I hope you have enjoyed your summer break and invested time with friends and family in fun and relaxing activities.  We have had a busy summer at CTHS and are looking forward to a wonderful
2017-18 school year.  I want to share some important information to help you prepare for a successful beginning to the year.

The first class of seniors to have invested all four years at CTHS will be leading our student body this year.  CTHS yearbook pictures for the Senior Class of 2018 are scheduled for Monday, August 7th – Thursday, August 10th.  Seniors should have received a personalized letter with a date and appointment time listed.  If you did not receive your letter or have misplaced it, please call CTHS at 713-740-5320 to verify your appointment date and time.

Our incoming freshman class of 2021 will be welcomed to CTHS Freshman First Day on Friday, August 18th from 7:15 – 11:30 am.  We will not be serving breakfast or lunch to students on this day, but PISD buses will provide transportation to and from CTHS.  We encourage all freshman to attend and participate in this unique first experience at CTHS.

The first day of classes for all students is Monday, August 21st.  School hours are from 7:15 am until 2:35 pm.  PISD buses will provide transportation to and from CTHS at all regular bus stops.  Please visit the PISD website and the Transportation Services link for specific bus stop locations.

Student parking permits are sold for $30 to seniors and juniors who have a valid Texas Driver’s License and proof of insurance for the 17-18 school year.  Students must have a 17-18 parking permit in order to park on the CTHS campus.

Student drop off and pick up is located in the main drive at the front of the CTHS campus along the Beltway 8 side of the campus.  For safety reasons, we would appreciate your cooperation by not entering, driving through, or dropping off students in the faculty parking or bus turnaround areas on the Genoa Red Bluff side of the campus.

The construction to provide sixteen additional academic classrooms at CTHS is continuing.  We would ask that you use caution as you enter and exit the main driveway on the Grayson Street side of the campus. Many workers, large construction equipment, and building materials are present in this area.  The main drive may be obstructed temporarily on certain dates and times as the construction process continues.  We will do our best to provide timely notification of any routing changes necessitated by the construction.  We anticipate completion of the construction by January 2018 and plan to utilize our new classrooms in the Spring of 2018.

Please visit our website (www.cthsweb.com), follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and sign up for Remind101 and Parent Connect.  Thank you for choosing CTHS.  We look forward to an exciting school year!
