As fall has officially begun, we have completed seven weeks of our school year. Things are busy at CTHS and we have many exciting opportunities to share with you.
Our Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, October 3 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Students and parents will have an opportunity to tour the campus, follow their student’s schedule, meet their student’s teachers and staff, and gain valuable information about the bond election and tax ratification election scheduled for November. We hope you will come and join us.
October also begins our recruiting efforts for the incoming freshman class of 2018. We have scheduled visits for all PISD intermediate campuses to bring their eighth grade students to CTHS during October to tour our campus and receive important application information. Our online application will be available beginning the second week of October and will remain open through January 8, 2018. Interested students in grades eight through eleven may apply online by visiting the Pasadena ISD website and clicking on our application link. We will also have a parent preview evening on Thursday, November 2 and we are inviting parents of eighth grade students to come with their student to tour our campus and meet our staff.
Our juniors will be receiving important information concerning the ordering of their senior class rings on October 3 and 4. Herff Jones will be at CTHS on October 3 from 4-7 pm and October 4 during all four lunch periods for students to place ring orders.
October 11 is a very important day for our students at CTHS. Along with students across the nation, students in grades 9-11 will be taking the PSAT examination. This is the national examination used to by many colleges and universities for scholarships and national merit and national honor recognitions. Our seniors will be participating in fun and memorable senior field day activities during the morning.
On Friday, October 6 and Monday, October 9, students will not be attending school. Those days are staff professional development days for our teachers to gain valuable professional training.
On Thursday, October 19 and Thursday, October 26, our College Now staff has scheduled two financial aid workshops from 6-8 pm. If you have any questions or need any assistance with financial aid related to your student’s college application, please plan to attend one or both of those sessions.
On Friday, October 27, we will have our annual Fall Festival. We will have booths, games, food, fun, and activities for our high school students in a safe, monitored environment. Please encourage your student to attend and participate in this fun event.
