Principal's Pen - September 2018We have had an excellent beginning to the 2018-19 school year at CTHS! Our enrollment continues to increase, with over 1400 students participating in twenty different pathways. Our Connect program continues to expand with students in grades nine, ten, and eleven participating in this unique, personalized learning environment. Student enrollment in our Advanced Placement courses continues to grow, with juniors and seniors enrolled in Dual Credit courses through San Jacinto College. Students in all grade levels have received tablets and our learning research center has already distributed over 1300 books to students.

Safety remains a priority for us and students will receive their identification badges next Tuesday. All staff and students must wear their ID each day so that we can easily identify persons on campus. All visitors must check in through our front reception desk and receive a visitor’s pass to wear while on campus. Exterior doors and gates remain locked during the day, with both campus and district personnel monitoring the campus throughout the day.

We have added an Academic Decathlon team at CTHS this year! We are very excited about this new opportunity for students to learn, participate, compete, and represent CTHS in academic competitions. If your student is interested in participating, please have them contact our Academic Decathlon coaches Mrs. Ramsey or Mrs. Madrigal.

Seniors of 2019 have completed their graduation and yearbook photos this week. School yearbook pictures for grades 9, 10, and 11 will be taken on Tuesday, September 11. Students will also receive information if they wish to purchase picture packages. On Wednesday, September 12, students will receive their first three weeks’ progress report as their first grade check of the year.

We look forward to our Open House scheduled on Thursday, September 27 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. We will be distributing the first six weeks’ student report cards to parents. Parents and students will have an opportunity to meet teachers, walk our beautiful campus, and receive financial aid information. We hope you will plan on attending and meeting your student’s teachers that evening.

We appreciate your continued support. Thank you for encouraging your student to choose CTHS and for supporting their efforts to prepare themselves and take advantage of the tremendous opportunities offered through our pathways and programs. We look forward to seeing you at Open House on September 27.
