I hope each of you and your families enjoyed a safe and relaxing holiday season. We are in full swing at CTHS and looking forward to a fantastic spring semester.

Students received their fall semester report cards earlier this week. If a student was absent from a fall final examination, they have until Wednesday, January 16 to make up that exam and complete their grade changes.

Spring is competition season at CTHS! Our Business Professionals’ of America will attend regional competition on Saturday, January 12 and our Culinary Arts Pro Start competition team will compete on Saturday, January 19. We wish both of these groups great success as they lead a great semester of honors and awards for our students.

Senior students in our Maritime, Criminal Justice, Child Guidance, Cosmetology, and Culinary Arts pathways will depart on January 17 for a Carnival Cruise from Galveston where students and staff will participate in job shadowing and hands-on learning experiences.

All students will have a holiday on Monday, January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Staff will be on campus in professional development activities.

Wednesday, January 23 is a very important day at CTHS. Students in all grades will be taking mock examinations in preparation for upcoming STAAR English Language Arts or Advanced Placement English Language and Literature, or TSIA college English examinations. Please encourage your student to give their very best on these exams, as results will guide our instruction and tutorials for students.

On Friday, January 25, our senior student will have the opportunity to receive their meningitis vaccine for only $20 (cash only). This one-time, mobile vaccination clinic will be at CTHS from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on this day. Seniors are receiving information through their homerooms. If you need additional information or have questions, please contact our campus nurse, Katherine Ashworth.

Another new organization at CTHS will make its competitive debut on Saturday, January 26. The CTHS Archery Club will compete at Pasadena Memorial High School. We have some incredible archers and look forward to great results from these students.

Herff-Jones representatives will be at CTHS on Thursday, January 24 to share important information with our seniors concerning graduation caps, gowns, and invitations. Representatives will be back at CTHS for students to place orders on Tuesday, January 29 during all four lunches (10:05 am Noon) and again on Wednesday, January 30 from 2:00 5:00 p.m. in our lobby. Parents are welcome to come and view the items, meet the representatives, and place orders.

We appreciate your continued support. Please contact us if we can assist you or your student in any way! Have a wonderful January and a great 2019!
