This is the image for the news article titled Principal's Pen - February 2020The school year is rapidly progressing as we move into the second month of 2020. Many exciting and important things are happening at CTHS and I would like to share some of those with you.

Our campus 2018-19 Federalaccountability report card is now
available for viewing at https://rptsvr1/tea.texas.gov/perfreport/frc/2019/srch.html

February is CTE month and we are extremely proud of all of our students and staff in our CTE pathways! Students in business and auto collision have already been winning in competitions, while criminal justice, engineering and FFA will be competing soon.

We are also very proud of our counseling staff as we celebrate National Counselors’ Week during the first week of February. We appreciate all of our counselors and clerical staff who work to serve students, families, and staff every day. Our counselors have met individually with every students at CTHS regarding their schedule and course selections for next year. This year, students have the opportunity to enter their own course selections for next year. This must be completed by 4:00 p.m. on February 3. Parents will have an opportunity to view their student’s course selections for next year from February 20-25. We want to ensure accurate placement of students for next year to minimize beginning of year schedule changes and to assist us with accurately staffing our campus based on student course requests.

On February 6, ninety CTHS students have requested the opportunity to earn credit in a world language course by participating in the district’s credit by examination program. Students without prior instruction in a world language course may request this opportunity.

On February 7, fifty CTHS students will be transported to San Jacinto College as part of the annual See to Succeed opportunity. These prescreened students receive vision examinations and glasses through partnerships sponsored by the Lions Club, Pasadena ISD, and other local supporters.

On Friday, February 14, we will host a food day in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Our senior class along with our culinary department will have special items available for purchase for both students and staff.

Students will enjoy a two-day break on both February 17 and 18 as our teachers participate in district and campus’ staff development sessions to prepare them for the remainder of the year.

On three Wednesday afternoons, February 12, 19 and 26, we offer extended day sessions for students needing tutorial assistance or make-up time and for clubs or organizations to meet. Extended day hours are from 2:45 – 4:15 p.m. with extended day buses transporting students to the elementary campus nearest their home at 4:30 p.m. We thank you for your continued support of our campus and invite you to contact us if you have any questions or need assistance.
