February is CTE month at CTHS! We are celebrating all of our CTE pathways, students, and staff. Many of our students compete this month in local or regional events to earn the right to advance to state competitions later in the spring. Criminal Justice, Audio/Video Productions, Auto Collision, HOSA, and FCCLA are just a few of the pathways competing this month. Thank you for your support and encouragement of these students and staff as they represent CTHS.

We are also celebrating our outstanding counseling staff at CTHS during Counselor Recognition Week of February 4-8. Our counseling team is experienced and well-trained to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students. We appreciate each of them and all they do to support, encourage and guide our students.

Our Academic Decathlon team will be competing in the regional tournament on Friday, February 8 and Saturday, February 9 at La Porte High School. These students and coaches have worked very hard to qualify for the regional tournament in their first year. We are very proud of them and look forward to celebrating success with them.

We will be celebrating the academic success of over two hundred of our students at the Academic Excellence Awards ceremony on Thursday, February 7 at 6:30 pm in the CTHS lobby. Students from grades nine through twelve will be receiving awards for their outstanding academic achievement in their previous year courses. Please join us in celebrating with these students and their families.

February 14 is Valentine’s Day at CTHS and we will be celebrating with a food day. Students may purchase food items to support the Senior Class of 2019 along with candy, treats, and Valentine grams from other clubs and organizations on campus.

February 18 and 19 are student holidays in recognition of President’s Day. Our staff will be receiving training in implementing new instructional and technological strategies to enhance students’ learning.

February 22 is Go Texan Day at CTHS! Students are encouraged to wear school appropriate western wear in celebration of our Texan heritage and culture.

We continue to revise and monitor all aspects of student and staff safety at CTHS. Please continue to assist us in keeping our campus safe by parking only in designated visitor spaces and by checking in at the main entrance reception area any time you need to visit our campus.

We also continue to build our parent programs at CTHS. CTHS Counselor Christina Flores is leading our Very Involved Parents (VIP) program. If you would be interested or available to participate in our VIP program, please contact Ms. Flores at CTHS and she will provide all the details for you.

Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff. We want to develop and grow the partnership we have with each student and their family. We appreciate each of you and the honor you have given us by sharing your son or daughter with us. I hope you have a blessed and safe February.
