March 2018

Spring has arrived at CTHS and we have many exciting things happening on our campus.  Our seniors are busy placing their graduation invitation, cap and gown orders and final planning is underway for our Class of 2018 senior prom.  Again, this year, we will transform our lobby and conference center into a beautiful venue for our seniors on April 21.  Our junior class members are placing ring orders and making plans for their senior year.  Our counselors are finalizing course requests for students for next year and scholarship workshops are underway to assist students as they plan for college.

The safety of students and staff continues to be a priority for our campus and our district.  We continue to implement our campus safety plan and have met with school district and district police officials to review our plans.  The Pasadena ISD Police Department will train our staff later this month to enhance our emergency preparedness.  We continue to screen all visitors to our campus, secure our exterior doors and gates, and provide continuous monitoring through our staff and security cameras.  Please use this renewed focus on campus safety as an opportunity to remind your students of the seriousness of the material they post, share, and read on social media.  Please use the “See Something, Say Something” links on both our campus and district websites to share information with us.  We follow up on the information received through this system to ensure the safety of everyone on our campus.  We are also conducting our regular fire and tornado drills this month to ensure our readiness for those situations.

When we return from Spring Break, we will be offering a new and unique opportunity to all of our junior students.  We will be administering the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) to our juniors during the school day on March 21.  This will be at no cost to the student and will give all of our juniors an opportunity to experience taking their first SAT in the familiar surroundings of CTHS.  We will also have opportunities for students to take their MOCK STAAR exams and MOCK Advanced Placement exams near the end of this month.  These exams will provide valuable practice and important personalized data for our students and staff as we continue to prepare for those exams in April and May.

In March, we will have two student holidays.  We will enjoy Spring Break during the week of March 12-16.  I want to wish everyone a restful and relaxing Spring Break and hope that you can spend time with family and friends.  At the end of this month, we will observe Good Friday on March 30, and I wish everyone a wonderful Easter weekend.

Thank you for your continued support of our students, our staff, and our campus!
