Our school year is moving quickly and we are almost to Spring Break 2020! Here are some of the important things happening at CTHS this month.
On Wednesday and Thursday, March 4 & 5, students in Grades 9 will be taking their Mock STAAR examinations in Biology and Algebra, while our juniors will be taking their Mock STAAR U.S. History exam. These practice examinations will provide valuable data for our students and staff as we continue teaching and providing tutorials and interventions in preparation for those exams in May. Our English department continues to prepare students for their upcoming STAAR English I and English II examinations in April. Students have the opportunity to attend tutorials every day during our Reboot time and every Wednesday afternoon during extended day sessions.
On Wednesday, March 4, our junior students will have an opportunity to take their Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) during the school day. This examination is provided to our junior students at no cost to give them an opportunity to experience the SAT and establish a baseline score upon which to build future success.
Our Future Farmers of America (FFA) will be making their state presentation on Tuesday, March 3. Representatives from the state FFA organization will be on campus to listen to our students and staff as they present the great things happening in FFA and seek to earn their official FFA state charter.
Students and staff will enjoy the Spring Break holidays from March 9-13 and return on March 16. The safety of all students and staff continues to be a priority at CTHS, as we will conduct a tornado safety drill the week we return from Spring Break.
Upon return from Spring Break, over one hundred of our students will be demonstrating their mastery of reading, writing, speaking, and listening English as they complete the state-mandated TELPAS examination. This is an important milestone for these students as they demonstrate their English language proficiency and contribute to our official state accountability.
Students in many of our career pathways have excelled in recent competitive events and earned the right to compete at state level competitions. We are so proud of our students and staff as they represent CTHS with pride and excellence in their chosen pathways.
Our staff continues to provide unique field experiences for students and our business partners are sending expert staff to our campus to provide current training and skill development for our students. It is a busy month at CTHS and we appreciate your continued support!
