It is hard to believe that one-third of our 2018-19 school year has passed. As we come to the first week of November, we have completed twelve weeks of the school year. We are moving quickly toward the Thanksgiving holidays. Here are just a few of the exciting things happening at CTHS this month.

On November 1, we are hosting our 8th grade student/parent recruiting night from 5:30-7:00 p.m. In October, over 4,000 PISD eighth grade students came to CTHS to receive a student-led tour, see our teachers and students in action, and receive a presentation from our counselors. This evening provides an opportunity for any of those students and their parents to come and tour our campus, meet our teachers, and talk with our counselors about the programs, courses, and opportunities we offer. We also have our culinary teams competing in the Pasadena Taste of the Town event at the Pasadena Convention Center. This is an incredible opportunity for our students to display their culinary skills against restaurant professionals from across our city.

On Saturday, November 3, our first Vet Tech Flea Market will be held from 9 am until Noon with a variety of booths, crafts, and items for sale. Come out and support many of our pathways by purchasing an early Christmas gift or two!

On November 5-6, students will have an opportunity for senior and underclassmen yearbook picture retakes. If students missed the original opportunity, this is their time to have photos taken for graduation and for inclusion in the 18-19 yearbook. On the evening of November 6, our College Now team will be hosting a free Financial Aid FAFSA workshop night from 4:30-7:00 p.m. and our Robotics team will be hosting a competition on our campus. Come out and support both of these efforts.

On November 9, students will receive their second six weeks’ report cards. On November 12, our Floral Design students are hosting our first annual Veteran’s Day Celebration. The week of November 12-16 is College Week in Pasadena I.S.D. and begins with College Night from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Pasadena Convention Center. This is a fantastic opportunity for families to attend, visit with colleges and universities from across Texas and the nation, and learn vital information about opportunities, scholarships, financial aid, and many more college topics.

Students and staff will be observing the Thanksgiving Holidays during the week of November 19-23. On behalf of the students and staff at CTHS, we wish you and your family a blessed and safe Thanksgiving and hope you will spend time with those who are close to you, reflect on the blessings of the year and give thanks for the many wonderful experiences of life.

Have a wonderful November and a Happy Thanksgiving!
