Fall has arrived at CTHS! We have many exciting things happening in October and we appreciate your continued support. We have begun our eighth grade recruiting visits this month and will have over four thousand PISD intermediate students coming to CTHS to receive a tour led by our student ambassadors and a presentation from our counselors. Our teachers will be in staff development training on October 7 and 8.

On October 15, our College Now staff has scheduled a parent meeting to provide information and assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This meeting will begin in our dining hall at 6:00 p.m. and we encourage students and parents to join us for this important evening.

On October 16, our 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will all be taking the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) and our 12th grade students will be taking the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Colleges and universities use the PSAT scores to determine scholarship recognitions and awards, while student SAT scores are used for college entrance requirements. Students have been utilizing online tutorials and teachers have been spiraling test preparations and reviews into their courses to assist students in preparing for these important examinations. We look forward to great results from our students.

On October 17, the CTHS chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) will be inducting new members. This ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. in our lobby and qualifying students have received invitations to return by Friday, October 12. Please come and join us for this special evening.

On October 23, we will have our annual Advanced Placement Celebration to honor those students who earned qualifying scores of three, four or five on their Advanced Placement exams last year. Our P.I.S.D. Board members and central administration representatives will be on campus to distribute the award checks to students and celebrate our students’ success. That celebration will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude by 9:15 a.m. Parents of Advanced Placement students are invited to join us that morning.

Tryouts for the CTHS Talent Show will be held after school on October 23. Individuals and groups with unique, musical, or theatrical talents are encouraged to participate. We will have extended day tutorials on that afternoon and run our extended day bus routes at 4:15 p.m. for students who wish to stay.

Our annual CTHS Fall Festival will be held on Friday evening, October 25, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 per person with proceeds benefiting the Senior Class of 2020. All tickets must be purchased in advance. Food, booths, games, and a dance will all be available to students. We will also have our second food day of the year on October 31 where students can pre-order food items and purchase food items from our senior class and our culinary arts classes during their lunch periods.

Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and campus. We appreciate you. Happy Fall!
