We have had an excellent beginning to the 2019-20 school year at CTHS! Our enrollment continues to increase, with over 1450 students participating in twenty different pathways. Our Connect program continues to expand with students in grades nine, ten, and eleven participating in this unique, personalized learning environment. Student enrollment in our Advanced Placement courses continues to grow, with juniors and seniors enrolled in Dual Credit courses through San Jacinto College. Students in all grade levels have received tablets and our learning research center has already distributed over 1000 books to students.

In August, we received our 2019 Accountability Ratings from the Texas Education Agency. We are very proud to say that CTHS received an overall “A” campus rating and received “A” ratings in both student achievement and school progress categories and a “B” rating in closing the gaps between student subgroups. In addition, our campus earned a perfect seven out of seven possible distinction designations in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Comparative Academic Growth, Postsecondary Readiness, and Comparative Closing the Gaps. We are very proud of our students and staff, all of their hard work, and the ongoing support of our parents and community for our campus.

Safety remains a priority for our campus and our district. Students received their identification badges last week and all staff and students must wear their ID each day so that we can easily identify persons on campus. All visitors must check in through our front reception desk and receive a visitor’s pass to wear while on campus. Exterior doors and gates remain locked during the day, with campus personnel and Pasadena I.S.D. Police monitoring the campus throughout the day.

Seniors of 2020 have completed their graduation and yearbook photos last week. School yearbook pictures for grades 9, 10, and 11 will be taken on Tuesday, September 10. Students will also receive information if they wish to purchase picture packages. On Wednesday, September 11, students will receive their first three weeks’ progress report as their first grade check of the year.

We look forward to our Open House scheduled on Thursday, September 26 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. We will be distributing the first six weeks’ student report cards to parents. Parents and students will have an opportunity to meet teachers, walk our beautiful campus, and receive financial aid information. We hope you will attend and meet your student’s teachers that evening.

We appreciate your continued support. Thank you for encouraging your student to choose CTHS and for supporting their efforts to prepare themselves and take advantage of the tremendous opportunities offered through our pathways and programs. We look forward to seeing you at Open House on September 26.
